"On the Warpath" took place on Friday 11th May 2007 at the Haydock Catholic Club. It was a night of suprises with new factions starting and amazingly 3 title changes in the course of the night.:
1) 6 Man Suicidal Match for the vacant Triple T Championship
Mark Rage failed to make his scheduled title defence and thus was stripped of the title and it was put on the line in a 6 man suicidal.
Brickwall, Matt Jay, Craig “Bezz” Bezinski, Slayer, Meatwhistle and Dread battled it out to become the new champion.
The match came down to Brickwall and the two FEAR members, who ganged up on him. Brickwall never gave up and continued to fight, managing to throw the Slayer over the ropes and finally get Dread one on one. It seemed that Brickwall had it won when he delivered a huge powerbomb to Dread off of the middle rope, but the force needed was too great and Brickwall hurt his own back in the process. That gave Dread a little time to recover, and as Brickwall went for the pin Dread rolled him up to steal the win for himself.
Dread has become a two time Triple T Champion!
2) Enigma and Matt Slater defeated Xander Cooper and Johnny Vodka
Before this match began we found out that AC Kage would serve as the special guest referee. You’d expect that this would make his old rival Enigma a bit worried, but Kage called the match right down the middle and was prepared to step in and make sure that all wrestlers played by the rules at all times.
The match started off with both teams looking evenly matched. Cooper and Enigma battled for control with a series of armdrags, throws and even some attempted dropkicks, but the other was always ready to come back with something else. They reached a stalemate so they tagged in their partners. Vodka and Slater went back and forth with some technical, but Slater was able to take control for his team. Some quick tags between Enigma and Slater showed that they had a plan in mind and they almost picked up a win with a wheelbarrow splash manoeuvre.
Unfortunately they couldn’t keep the momentum going as Xander Cooper gave his partner an illegal assist by tripping Enigma. The team then took advantage of this opening and gave him a beating that he’ll be feeling for a long time. Lots of barely legal double teams and frequent tags allowed them to keep Enigma isolated.
It looked to be all over as Cooper set up Enigma for a Titanic, but Enigma was able to counter the hold and both wrestlers reacted by swinging out with a clothesline, taking them both down.
Both teams needed a tag, but it was crucial to Enigma after the beating he had received. Cooper made a tag, but Vodka was too slow to stop Enigma and Slater came in fully refreshed and ready to fight. Slater was able to take total control of the match and almost took the win for his team with an incredible 180° springboard frog splash.
Enigma and Slater then set up their opponents for a devastating double coast to coast hesitation dropkick. Cooper rolled to the outside but then was knocked off of the apron when Slater used a drop-toehold on Vodka. That also allowed Enigma to hit his 619 and then Slater followed up with his Future shock to take the fall and the victory.
After the match Vodka and Cooper were clearly unhappy and attacked the victors from behind. However AC Kage chased them out of the ring and seemed to be in support of Enigma and Slater.
However, this was just a big set up. Kage announced the formation of a new group DNA, Dirty Nasty Animals, made up of himself, Cooper and Vodka. Kage claimed that they were the only three wrestlers in the NPWA that were made of the right stuff to be a major faction. Then, to make a bigger statement, they attacked Enigma and Slater once more. Matt Slater’s knee took a brutal beating from a steel chair that may have caused some long term damage and both Enigma and Slater wound up with DNA spray painted across their backs.
3) The Wild Factor :-
- Demo rapped a challenge to Angel D'Souza. Wild then signed the match for later in the night.
- Wildcat defeated Bezz, Meatwhistle, Johnny Vodka and Mr Marsden in the Wild Factor singing competition.
- Sheppy Doo defeated Meatwhistle
4) The Fireball and Adrian Myers defeated Ultimate Devastation to become the *NEW NPWA Tag Team Champions*
The second tag team bout of the night saw the tag team titles hang in the balance as two of the top teams in Britain clashed.
Myers and fireball were clearly cocky, but they were out matched when it came to height, weight and experience. That led to a bit of falling out between them when it came to who should start the match. Havoc showed that he was stronger than each of his opponents and then showed off his technical ability by controlling The Fireball with some tough holds on his arm. Sebb and Havoc showed the skills that have made them the top team in the NPWA, quick tags and solid technique allowed them to dominate. They even allowed The Fireball to tag out and then continued to dominate Myers.
It all looked to be over after just a few minutes, Havoc took Myers up top for a highly dangerous and impactful superplex and Sebb went to follow up with a frog splash that would surely give them the win. However, Myers was just able to move out of the way and Sebb smashed into the mat with tremendous force.
With a hurt midsection Sebb’s movement was restricted and this limited his offensive capabilities, which was a big deal for the challengers. Quick tags between Fireball and Myers kept them fresh and they focused every strike and move on the already hurt chest and stomach of Sebb. Sebb continued to fight through the pain and almost made a tag to havoc on several occasions, but the challengers were more than willing to bend the rules to make sure that didn’t happen.
Just as a mistake by Sebb changed the momentum of the match earlier, it was a mistake by The Fireball that changed things again. He set Sebb up in the corner for a knockout shot from the running knee, but Sebb was able to move out of the way and fireball smashed his own knee into the turnbuckle. Both men were hurt and made a tag but it was Havoc that was able to take control. Myers was on the receiving end of a series of big moves from Havoc and he went for the end with a Spicolli Driver. Myers failed to kick out but Fireball did place his foot on the ropes to break the count. Havoc was sure that he had taken the win, but while he argued this point with the referee The Fireball came in and delivered his flamethrower, but even that only got a two count. Sebb then came in a delivered a sit out ura-nage slam to The Fireball, but he kicked out on two. Sebb then turned in to Myers’s Adrenaline Rush DDT, but he was also able to kick out at two.
Havoc had then recovered and charged at Myers, but he sidestepped the attack and Havoc slammed into the referee. Fireball then slid back in to the ring with the tag team title belts and smashed Havoc in the face with one as he turned around.
Myers then delivered a second ARDDT to Sebb, onto the Tag Titles, and to really make sure he was out Myers and Fireball then hit a double DDT on to the belts. Fireball brought the referee around just in time for him to count the 3 and end the seven month reign of Ultimate Devastation.
5) Angel D’Souza defeated Paul “Demo” Gibson to retain the NPWA Championship :-
(Match report to follow)
6) Adonis defeated Paul “Flash” Andrews, Sean Phoenix and AC Kage to win the NPWA International Championship in a fatal 4-way match.
Before the match AC Kage came to the ring with a belt that he “found” backstage. It was the Triple T Championship but was covered with the DNA initials. Clearly Kage has no respect for the title or its holder and he discarded it to focus on the task ahead of him.
As the match began all four men began to brawl, trading blows back and forth. AC Kage and Flash fought out to the floor while Phoenix and Adonis brawled in the ring. Kage and Flash used the tables around the ring to try and knock each other out by slamming their heads into them, but back in the ring Phoenix was almost pinned by Adonis before then delivering a series of big power moves to try and take a win for himself.
Then it seemed as though Adonis was taken out of the match. Kage took him to the outside and gave him a spear on the floor and followed it up with a devastating brain buster.
Andrews came close to walking out with his title still around his waist after several near falls, but Phoenix was able to emerge as a dominant force once again. An Overload was delivered to every wrestler in the match, but even that couldn’t give Phoenix the title.
As the match reached its closing stages Kage again took Andrews out to the floor and they continued to brawl, but back in the ring Adonis caught Phoenix off guard with a springboard cross body block and followed up with the BUM to take the pinfall. As the referee was counting to three Andrews desperately struggled to get back in to the ring but Kage held him back by his feet, happier to see someone else take the title than give Andrews the chance to retain.
This was a huge win for Adonis, his first ever singles Championship and a victory in front of his home town crowd who gave him a big round of applause as he celebrated at the end of a great night of wrestling action.
